The Sherlock Fandom Very Exciting Giveaway

In honor of having reached 5,000 followers, I’ve decided to do another giveaway! I’m poor, so it’s not much of a giveaway, but here’s how it’ll work:

1. Reblog this post to enter. You do not have to be following me to win.

2. Don’t bother reblogging more than once, because regardless of how many times you reblog, the nature of Tumblr means that the notice only shows up in my feed once, and as such, has no impact on your odds of winning.

3. I will only ship prizes to the U.S. This is not intended to be exclusionary, but the U.S. Postal Service is going bankrupt, so international rates are astronomical. If you live outside the U.S. but want to enter anyway, I can arrange to ship to you, but unfortunately you will have to pay your own postage.

4. There will be ten winners! That’s right, ten!

If you are trying to avoid S3 spoilers, today is probably not a good day to be on Tumblr.

Two videos have been posted that (apparently) reveal details related to how Sherlock survived the fall.

These may be something legitimately filmed by fans, or it may be a clever and elaborate diversion (Mofftiss are completely aware that fans are spying on the filming locations, and considering that even the cast didn’t know the secret until just before those scenes were set to be shot, it seems the sort of thing they would do), but as of now, in the panicked haze, I cannot identify airtight information - legitimate or otherwise - about the genesis these videos, and I have not worked up the courage to watch them all the way through. I intend to, just give me some time to take some shots and brace myself.

it’s a handwritten sign that Benedict Cumberbatch held up for the mob of fans (excuse you, mob of fans) hanging around during a break in filming this week. I assume he scribbled it hastily and didn’t think much about the grammatical structure (either that or he was trying to make it rhyme), but what he’s saying is that he’s the “real” Benedict Cumberbatch and that anyone on twitter who claims to be “the real Benedict Cumberbatch” is lying, because he is not on twitter and never will be.

If you aren’t concerned about spoilers, search the tag #imthereal and you will see a plethora of “I’m the real” jokes. I won’t post any of it here, because many of them are manipulations of unauthorized set photos and I’m trying not to encourage that nonsense, but seriously, there are already tee shirts.

This is from Sherlockology, not directly from a cast/crew member, but it’s legitimate.

Sherlock in London: A Message from Sue Vertue

Filming on Sherlock Series Three is about to enter an important stage.

Sue Vertue, producer on the series, has sent us the following statement:

Hi, Sue Vertue here.

As many of you are aware, we’ll soon be embarking on our first London leg of filming for series 3. I’m also aware that there is quite a lot of speculation about where we’re shooting when. I can’t stress how much we the Producers and Benedict, Martin and the rest of the cast appreciate your love and dedication to our show - we’ll endeavour to live up to your expectations for Series 3.

What I am nervous about is that our London shooting schedule is punishing and will really give us very little time to interact with you. The actors really hope you understand that.

Also, and I know this is probably asking a lot, the majority of fans and indeed ourselves would REALLY appreciate it if you didn’t post pictures or spoilers or ideally our daily locations.

Pages 56-57. Carl Powers died in 1989. Sherlock said he was eight years old in the episode.

Except Sherlock didn’t say he was eight years old in the episode. He said:

And we always knew that Carl died in 1989, because that was in the episode:

So the Casebook just mentioning 1989 gives us no new information.

Maybe that’s where this myth that the Casebook reveals Sherlock’s age comes from, though? Someone incorrectly thinking that Sherlock said he was eight in the episode, doing the math to get 1981, blogging about it, and everyone else just repeating it as fact?

OMG. WOW. NO!

Don’t shoot the messenger. This is definitely not new information.

I chose this response to address, but that goes for all of you who are suddenly having a panic attack about Moriarty not returning in Series 3. Moriarty died at Reichenbach Falls in the Doyle canon as well, so really, this plot development has been 120 years in the making.
